North Shore and Schenley Park Engagement Session | A Surprised Proposal
Grant first contacted me to see if I had availability to photograph his surprised engagement to his girlfriend, Emily. He had a vision of having a picnic in Schenley Park overlooking the city with their two adorable poodles.Â
As soon as I read his e-mail I was thrilled, as many of you know, I love surprised engagements, and I have so much experience with them at this point that I’m always happy to help with planning or anything else that’s need it.
The Summer afternoon couldn’t be more perfect. I arrived a few minutes early to hide and watch how Emily and Grant set up their romantic picnic along with their two doggies enjoying the summer and looking over the University of Pittsburgh’s famous Cathedral of Learning.Â
Grant and I had a plan that he was going to stand up and that was going to be my queue that he was about to propose. I was ready! They were playing with their doggies, and as soon as Grant stood up, I was ready with my camera to document their once in a lifetime moment.Â
And so… Grant got on one knee and propose to Emily while their dogs witnessed everything. It was a perfect moment, which you’ll see in the photos. After capturing these raw, intimate, and candid moments, we began doing their official engagement photography session.Â
For their second location, we did one of my favorite spots in Pittsburgh: The North Shore. If you want the skyline, the city view, or take a stroll along the city’s riverwalk, that’s your spot. It’s also a great location to look at the bridges like the famous Roberto Clemente bridge and have some elegant and spectacular engagement photos.
The romanticism and elegance of the city behind Emily and Grant along the river is gorgeous. Once the sunset was gone and we entered into the evening hours we were able to do some creative and passionate shots of these two to celebrate their love.Â
